Never heard any mention of this before...but it seems it's been in the pipeline for quite a long time
"The Land Rover Defender may also come with the eight speed dual clutch transmission and this is perfect for off the road driving. Right now the system has been given the name of POLAR 3 and it is able to deal with 442 torque." http://www.autoomobile.com/news/2019-land-.../40041209/ Click image to enlarge Article with more detail here - http://passenger.lubrizoladditives360.com/...ns-to-dct/ and here - http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/tech...uary-2016/ "The POLAR 3 demonstrator vehicles were developed with the collaboration of Drive System Design (manual) and Ricardo (DCT automatic). Land Rover is confident that POLAR 3 will be more efficient than current off-road drivelines, but the company is giving nothing away when it comes to the final design or the initial production applications for the transmission. One guess might be the all-new Defender “pure” Land Rover, due in 2018. This would provide the ideal platform to demonstrate the off-road benefits of the DCT." |

Just wondering, would this fit a Puma and resolve the Intermediate Shaft issue? NormanD WE191
