So my 60 plate puma has blown its turbo. Fairly annoying as its only on 40k miles. Wheres best to try and find a new one. Or is a hybrid worth it?

get them to have a look at the wiring - the 3 fault codes on the diag' will only show the turbo as having an issue - if you happen to use a 'less knowledgable' garage, they will tell you to replace.
have them check the wiring going into the turbo - pin plug with the spooled wires round it. Mine went, but it was a wire here that had snapped... check that first!! sorry if you're already aware of this, but i wasn't and it's good knowledge to have in the armoury - especially for someone as mechanically 'special' as myself!! ![]() |

^ what he said^
We have had a few with allegedly blown turbos, 9 times out of 10 it's an actuator/ wiring loom fault. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Good reason to upgrade to one of the Variable Turbos like from IRB, BAS, ALIVE, ETC...

My bet will be actuator, hopefully cheaper for you anyway. Fingers crossed. TheThunder Rollsπ¬π§πΊπΈ

You will find new actuators listed on Ebay, I think. At least, there were some sources there when I thought mine had failed.
Engine harness failure is mroe common than actuator failure, so it is always worth checking the harness very carefully before jumping to any conclusions. |

Beware!! the ones on eBay are just (cheap) knock offs. The original ones (as far as I know, see my previous post) are not for sale in Europa. I decided not to gamble but that's for everyone to decide for themselves. a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover

my 110 DCPU (2013 model) went into limp home mode on Friday and had to be towed to Stratstone (wales) as its over 120 miles to home. After 4 days they have said its the wiring loom (£360 !!!) plus 2 hours fitting at £170 per hour which was a shock as the mobile line was really poor - but possibly even more !!!!
Trapped- so they will have to do it. It did seem like the turbo had packed up so in a way a bit easier to swallow. Obviously its 10k miles out of warranty. |

Harness damage is very common but is easy to repair if you are moderately competent with electrical repairs. That cost is shocking!
