After giving me the odd warning signs, the odd drip down the clutch pedal, the clutch master cylinder had to be replaced. Yes it's a fairly simple job, just tedious with having to take the pedal box out meaning faffing about upside down in the footwell trying not to take out too much trim. It took a couple of hours as I wasn't on a hurry (for a change) and the neighbour and I were putting the world to rights.
It's nice when you can pick up a new part that is the same throughout the whole range from at least the 90's and 110's up to at least the end of the Td5's, should be the same for the Puma's as well

I have been getting those warning signs , it started with a small puddle under the clutch pedal, I must get round to sorting it out or give the headache to the local independent for Christmas. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

Went shooting on the normal syndicate shoot. Great day weather wise but no wind and bright sunshine don't generally work well for the birds. 107 for 675 doesn't look great but most guns were trying to be (too?) selective but couldn't back it up. It is normally a 5-1 shoot and a strong team might do 4-1. Regardless it was a brilliant day to be out.

I'd suggest it works brilliantly for the birds, not so well for you and the syndicate!! Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Had to use a second battery to start mine this morning after it failed to start yesterday.
Went for an MOT and Passed Very Happy
Now have to look at a new battery, its still on the original 12 years old, not bad.
Think the cold got to it.. 110XS CSW TD5.

Not today (although it's the same today), and not in the defender, but the defenders temporary courtesy replacement.

Went back for MOT after it failed due to a worn damper last week. Everything OK on paper, but they didn't see the leaky steering pump, and honestly I expected them to make a remark about the brake lines. At least it gives me some extra time to replace them.
Last year it sailed through MOT without any issues. I was proud since it was its first MOT since we bought the car and after I had done everything myself, including extensive maintenance, new bearings, brake discs and caliper overhaul.

Greetings,

Joris

Curious John, but how does that DIFFer (excuse the pun) from a standard diff. What if any advantages are there? Ta Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

In simple terms it's all the best engineering from various landrover diffs then the standard parts/materials are upgraded eg bigger bearings etc. The longer rover diff has better bearing spread on the pinion but has a different bolt pattern to the short nose p38 /110 rear. Ashcroft do this long nose version that is a long nose casting with p38 bolt pattern. Bigger crown and pinion gears and bolt set. Hope that help without getting over complicated. 👍

Took the wheels off the other week, and recoated all the chassis and suspension parts, where neccessary, in preparation for winter.

Then coated the brake callipers in RAL 1018 Zinc yellow to match the Koni shock, and gave the underside a general eye over for any signs of leaks. Discovered that the rear diff breather pipe was crushed and damaged (probably during the installation of the side exit tailpipe, over a year ago). This had caused the diff to spew oil through the pinion seal. Front discs were worn out, too. On the list for the 80000 km service.

Service completed including fitting the Ashcroft shaft kit (telltale rust visible in the gearbox opening), and winter tyres fitted. The drive back from the dealership felt so smooth and quiet, which I wanted to attribute to the shaft replacement, but then remembered the soft and smooth winter tyres, which always feel luxurious, after a season of knobbly MTīs.

Heated screen wiring
Finished off fitting the wiring harness for the heated windscreen purchased during the week from Dave at VGS. As the window isn't fitted yet the loom just powers the heated mirrors I fitted last week. Quite happy with the installation, its was a very comprehensive kit including an original Landrover switch.

Buzzweld painted my NAS90 V8 chassis with CIO Chassis in One. Purchased 5 aerosols last sunday at Land Rover Show. Sadly could have done with more, so will order extras. Have to say it went on really easily and whats better it dries quickly even in this weather.
