Last Sunday we went to Germany. The LRCH (Land Rover Club Holland) was invited to make some new tracks in Funpark Meppen.
Here you can rent a Jeep (how want’s to?) but they needed a more challenging trail. So in the forest and sand planes there were only Dutch Defenders and some Disco’s. Not in my defender but passenger, interesting morning, double winching out a 110 that had slipped into a small ditch 2 winches meant it came out with minor damage, thankfully!

That looks interesting. Lucky to get out of there damage free.
Winching too fast like that could easy cause roll over, how'd the two winches work - pull it sideways? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

A few light scratches, lucky as there was a tree just a bit further would have but a hefty dent in, the roof rack managed to keep the distance. Yes one winch on the front and back and pull him out sideways, over the softish bank. Which avoided him putting one end into the hedge more, especially has it's just had a respray quite lucky a few hands on deck to help with the recovery!

In it.... nothing!
Spent most of the day cleaning was seemed to be half the mud in Cornwall off of it and I didn't even go off-roading while I was there this week I was however staying in a nice cottage that you had to ford a stream to get to it off a dirt track Then I fitted the rack ready for tomorrow and stuck a new defender badge on the back as it was nice and clean Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

Heater hasn't been kicking out much heat this last week or so, and I've noticed the temp gauge was slow to get to its usual position, dropping quickly in traffic.
Checked the header tank, pretty empty. Topped up, and the heater is back to its usual freeze/furnace choices. Hopefully, it's just the difference in water level from the service not getting it up to temperature and the thermostat opening up. Otherwise I'm losing water. Stripped out my old SW for my friend, before I add some silent coat throughout, ably helped by Alfie...
Click image to enlarge Always thought this model was quieter than my current DC, with better thud on the door closure, lower cabin noise and lower transmission noise. It is a MY2011 2.2 whilst my DC is a MY2011 2.4. As such was interested to find some rudimentary sound and vibration insulation fitted. Is this normal? Have yet to open the DC to see what its insulation is/isn't like... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Finally, discovered some top drawer JLR quality control. Took off the strip that held the rear carpet down only to find the metal shavings from the original holes made by the factory still there. After giving me the odd warning signs, the odd drip down the clutch pedal, the clutch master cylinder had to be replaced. I had taken heed of the little messages and bought a new master cylinder a couple of months ago but in the true spirit of being my own mechanic I hadn't got round to fitting it
Yes it's a fairly simple job, just tedious with having to take the pedal box out meaning faffing about upside down in the footwell trying not to take out too much trim. It took a couple of hours as I wasn't on a hurry (for a change) and the neighbour and I were putting the world to rights. It's nice when you can pick up a new part that is the same throughout the whole range from at least the 90's and 110's up to at least the end of the Td5's, should be the same for the Puma's as well |
