Do you know which oil pump it has ? I may have been unlucky but I went through 2 "standard" oil pumps in the first year due to the bypass valve sticking in the bore and limiting the pressure. Fitted a "heavy duty" version which has a heavier spring on the bypass valve and not had a problem since. I did get very well practiced at stripping the front end though !
I only knew it had happened because I had an oil pressure monitor fitted. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ Last edited by davew on 18th Nov 2016 12:35am. Edited 1 time in total |

Made a fair bit more progress on this.
Engine is built, with the exception of fitting the loom. Filled with oil etc. A lot of the front end is refitted. Click image to enlarge Oil cooler manifold for the Auto. Oil cooler sits in front of the Radiator. Click image to enlarge For now I have the standard TD5 radiator in place. Will see how it copes. I have a 16" spal fan on order to help with the cooling. All the water hoses are now sorted including the heater hoses which aren't in this image: Click image to enlarge The bare LT230 has now been swapped out for a complete one which has been rebuilt with the heavyduty Ashcroft cross pin, and a sleeved intermediate shaft. I haven't refitted the underdrive yet. That's still fitted to one of my other LT230's Need to have a look at the power steering stuff lines next. Will hopefully have all the wiring fitted this week. I have also stripped down a TD5 fuel pump assembly and have been looking at options to rebuild that with the Walbro pump I ended up ordering. couple more pics:
Click image to enlarge Front prop UJ clearance! I fitted the propshaft the other day, then I was annoyed it was filthy so removed it, cleaned it and refitted in with new nuts and bolts again! Have started on the wiring as well now. Had to unbolt the transfer and slide it back 10mm (on some longer bolts I fitted as guides) to allow me to get the connector into the 6l80e
The hard plastic lines are for the Evap/Purge valve (connector just behind the serp belt tensioner) I need to redo these as they dont fit atall anymore. Wow, the prop is close! There's enough room for some axle articulation?

I think so. I can always drop down a size to the std UJ's. This front shaft has the larger 1330 joints as opposed to the earlier cars / rear shafts which are 1310's 2001 90 HT 6.0LS/6spdAuto.

Stupid me! There's not much movement at that end anyway
I shouldn't get excited and read about. LS swaps, the minute I wake up in the morning! |

Mine's very similar, been competing and driving it for nearly 10 years now and it's never touched the gearbox/sump side.
I did have to carve a lump out of the gearbox cross member though due to the transfer box being about 6 inches further back on mine. I could have moved the cross member back but cutting it was a lot easier and I didn't want it too close to the centre of the wheelbase as it's taken enough grief where it is from grounding ! http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

Spent ages last night and this evening just doing fiddly and slow jobs.
Removed all the wiring for the rear winch for now. Wired up the starter and alternator, battery positive, and also the battery earths to the chassis and gearbox and from the engine to the chassis I also refitted the starter motor and put the underdrive back on. Click image to enlarge There is a fair gap between the loom and the manifold its just foreshortened by the picture. I picked up some wiring heat wrap earlier so will add some protection in a few places just in case. Click image to enlarge Gear shift cable and underdrive cable will hopefully go back on tomorrow. Should you ever have issues with your ignition leads there are ceramic coated ones on the market from the US for around $120.-. (a full set!) I went through a Cpl of sets due to manifold heat. Depending auto cooler size and location I would add a check valve in the line too IMO. m
