It depends how likely you are to need it I guess...

The lap strap ends are easy enough to mount using the existing mounting points. The rear straps on that one in the video look way too low though and, if mounting to the rear bulkhead you need to keep that in mind.

If you mount the straps too low so they go downwards through the seat back you are actually relying 100% on the strength of he seat back in a crash. If the seat back fails not only will you be thrown forwards but your spine can be crushed in the process as your forward movement pushes your shoulders down inside the straps. In that respect a 4 point harness can be far more dangerous to the occupant than the standard 3 point.

Ideally the rear straps should come out parallel to the floor and be mounted there. If you take a look at the MSA regulations for seat belt mounting they show the permitted angles for motor sport use. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

I may sound like the fun police but I would never use 4 point seat belts unless you have a roll cage....no space to duck away in case of a roll over. Just IMO. m

The standard 3 point is pretty easy to use and I still can't be arsed. The chances of me faffing with a 4 point is nil Very Happy

But each to their own and if it makes you happy why not Thumbs Up - just make sure you get the mounts right Shocked which in a Defender won't be easy.

Dont forget the shoulder straps cant go downwards straight out the back of the seat unless you want back injuries in a crash.

To mount them properly, you'd almost render the rear seats useless with what's needed.

Just my opinion of course and people do and get away with it, but do enough research and you'll see my point. Start with the MSA handbook for a good starting point as they dont tend to say stuff without reason Smile.

I bought some a while ago and also have a full cage, but still wont be fitting any more I dont think. Plus getting to the radio when strapped is impossible so you end up wearing without the shoulders anyway ... which is pointless!

EDIT: Also ... try a drive-through when fully strapped up ... It's hilarious!

As above, avoid a crushed spine.
