I'm sure I've seen magazine articles which had a light bar slung under the front bumper. Does anyone have links to any vehicles that have had these fitted please?

Could work, someone on here has Hella fogs under the front bumper. Not sure how much useful light output you'd get from one that far down?

Forgot about the placement rules and I guess its not the best place to achieve max lighting benefit I suppose.

I do. For fogs the light output is just perfect from that level. Think about it that the position of those fogs under a Defender bumper still is quite a bit higher than the factory fogs on many other cars. I would think that for a driving beam LED bar the under bumper position is too low though. Too much of its light beam will be reflected up by the tarmac close to the truck. Better position to have a driving beam would be above the bumper or integrated under the top side of a soft A-bar which already comes with the fittings for spots or a LED bar. That height is more or less the same as the main lights of the truck, which much better for driving lights. Eric You never actually own a Defender. Roof mounted light bars are probably only allowed "off road" due to being too high. Needs some one to check on legality of this..... Cheers Don. |

There is no longer a max height limit for non-obligatory front lights, one of the few things, regulation-wise, for which we have the EU to thank.

I have a shadow lightbeam bar that mounts at the top of the grill that you could mount a light bar too

I think the most obvious problem with mounting a light bar underneath the bumper is that it's going to decrease your approach angle and be the first thing that hits the ground.
I know this is Defender 2, home of the tart's handbags but you can at least pretend to want some sort of off road consideration for a Defender  http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

I can send some better pics if you like. But basically, you need to remove some of the heatsink fins at the back to account for the brace bars and wang on a couple of brackets
