She is growing fast. The book says a Vizsla female can be as heavy as 25kg when fully grown and our one is currently 18kg at five months so it looks like she'll be at the upper end of the scale. She is hard work though, her energy is almost limitless and she re-charges in an hours sleep (and those bloody puppy teeth!). Good fun though, it's fun to take her out and it's nice to be out. She's a happy, friendly pup.

My Border Collie Loki was like that (the dog in the avatar) as a puppy and young dog, he drove me to distraction, he needed attention all the time, he would disrupt the house, he never seemed to sleep, barked all the time; I even thought he must have the canine version of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Eventually I took him to the vets and he suggested putting him on a low protein diet. Blow me after a week on a different diet he was a totally different dog, calm, well behaved and a joy to own. He has been on a low protein diet now all his life. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

Friends of ours have had a Vizsla for four years, they're both keen ultra runners and still can't wear him out. They were warned about the breeds hyper activity, but even as experienced dog owners they were shocked. He's a stunning dog though, and fantastic charisma. Good luck, hope you've been staying fit and taking your vitamins!! PS, expect anything soft to be destroyed. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I've done a bit of running myself and that's why I chose this breed. The plan is to take up Canicross once the dog is old enough to run with (about two years old). I got bored of triathlon but still enjoy running so thought I'd pursue running with the added randomness of running with the dog. To be honest, the dog has been pretty good. Minimal eating of furniture and mostly behaves. But she is full on, there is hardly a moment when the dog isn't demanding attention. We haven't got kids so can't really compare but I imagine this is what having kids is like but with fangs. She has changed our lives though, which is what we wanted. We were stagnating a bit and getting into a rut with the day to day grind. Since she arrived we've become dog focused and started planning days out to make the dog happy. We're taking her to the seaside on Friday, for the first time, to see what she makes of the sea. Looking forward to it. I'll post a picture if I get a good one. |

This is our 8 year old West Highland Terrier - Harry...
Day out on the North Norfolk coast Click image to enlarge Local park picnic Click image to enlarge Loves being in the Land Rovers and is always outside with me when I'm working on them. Resembles one in canine form in that he sometimes smells, can be very noisy and occasionally leaks Wouldn't have him any other way mind!
