Two years ago we bought our 2005 Td5 which is a MY06 according to the VIN. It has the later style doors, and originally should have had a cat too.
The car had 80k km /50k m and since we bought it, I had to do the following things apart from maintenance: - Transfer box jumped out of low gear, fortunately just the hi-low gear linkage needed adjustment. - Recondition the calipers and replace the brake discs - Rectify the warped exhaust manifold. You might have experienced it on your Discovery. If not: it makes a screeching sound in the higher revs, lika a swallow on steroids. I could also notice soot staining at the rear of the manifold where the studs were loose (and not broken fortunately) - Replace rear halfshafts and all flanges - Replace injector harness. The oil had reached the ECU - Replace the belt, tensioner and follower - Replace main clutch cylinder - Small leak on the FPR (not fixed yet) - Replace contacts of the starter motor The chassis contained quite some sand and crud. The doors are cracked next to the private lock. You can't see it but you''ll notice that the upper part of the interior moves a bit outward of the glass FWIW: Although it is a 15p, I checked the oil pump bolt last weekend and was happy to see that it was still firmly attached. I did notice a leak at the PAS pump and between the turbo oil return pipe. Also there's play in the transfer box since 10k km. That's all probably more than our 1995 BMW needed/suffered from until now in its 333k lifetime Regards, Joris |
