off at a tanget here....your engine lifting point is red ?
not sure I've noticed one of these in red before? and re; the rust I think you might struggle to get them replaced - albeit it looks naff and they should (mind you for the few pennies you think they'd do it right in the first place!) - good luck. |

Every hot side of every turbo in the world will rust.. cast iron and salty damp air dont mix.. as for getting it replaced don't even try! 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Dont think I've had a Defender where those bits haven't grown rust, although picture two looks a bit more extreme.
I wouldn't be worried about rust there. |

Please, please, please............. NO ALLARM!!!!!
Turbo housing, common rail main collector and engine block are made on cast iron!!!!! ALL engine maker do it in cast iron!!! (or in alloy, but cast iron block are more stronger) ALL exhaust manifold (turbo housing is a part of) are made in cast iron (or stainless steel in same bike and ultrasport car) and it taken "rust color" but it is only a color!!!! Cast iron is like stainless steel, it produce an surface oxidation (brown color on cast iron) but IT ISN'T RUST CORROSION!!!! In the past same engine maker painted the cast iron engine block, but now, for costs cutting reasons nobody do it!!! look the engine block of a Discovery 4 new!!!! the same BUT IT ISN'T RUST CORROSION!!!!! So if you go to the Dealer........ you only make an ugly "figure"............... You can cover or remove the rust on the common rail collector (only for cosmetics reasons) by OWATROL or similar rust inhibitor fluids....................... If you really don't like it then wire wool and High Temp: Engine/Manifold paint will restore the factory look. Won't make any overall difference however and it will come back as the paint will eventually burn off.
