Not sure if there's any truth in that but I'm sure I didn't read it somewhere.

The rule has just changed for a partial refund from half hour plus down to 15 mins plus.

And Custom90's experience is par for the course in France. Want to chat to a mate and hold up the A1, no problem. Want to block a single lane one way system whilst popping into the Boulangerie, go ahead. Feel the need to stop in the road for no other apparent reason than 'want', bien sur....

Ironically, despite nearly all French drivers being guilty of the above, if they come across said blockage they're on the horn an de gesticulating in a matter of nano seconds... Big Cry Monsieur Le Grenadier

I read somewhere that by UK regs a train is considered 'on time' if it arrives at its destination within 10mins of the prescribed time. As such, when you see stats by a rail company stating they're 90% on time, they may actually be 100% late!! Shocked Monsieur Le Grenadier

A few years ago when the whole country was freezing struggling to get to work by road and rail the only railway in the north of England to be running on time was the one that runs from Grosmont to Pickering across he North Yorkshire Moors, this railway is run by volunteers. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,

Stifles yet another shudder. It appears that each and every time some occurrence or other is captured on a video these days it is followed by someone invariably exclaiming "oh my God" except it invariably sounds something like "oh mmmwuuy gaaaaaaard!"

I thought in France flashing your lights meant that you expected someone to give way to you rather than the British meaning of "I'm giving way to you"? Not sure if this is right, but it could explain the confusion if so. Dirty Deeds - Done Dirt Cheap

In the British Highway Code flashing your lights is the same as using horn, an indication of your presence. It does not mean feel free to pull out / cross oncoming traffic etc.
I'll cross traffic when I feel it is safe not when the muppet coming towards me flashes his lights (he has invariably missed the motor bike just about to pass him)

It's back to the time of year when all these cyclists keep lashing their retina burning micro lights at you, perhaps they're telling us that we can go in front of them Whistle

Went out for a meal. There was a couple sat next to us. When their food arrived both of them got their phones out, took a picture and spent 5 mins in silence typing on their phones before even trying the food! Wtf!!!!!
