Stone cutting discs..?
I'm currently grinding out the mortar between the slabs on my patio and getting though a disc (115mm dia) in about 45mins.

Any recommendations for a make that might be better quality than mine..? I was hoping the discs would last a bit longer, or am I being too optimistic..?

Cheers

Simon

Hello couplands

Done a lot of this and tried these... <£30.00 each so not cheap but did go the distance
(on the plus side its a sign of how good your mortar is... Shocked )

Sounds about right, Abacras are a good quality. Dont buy from Aldi or B&Q go to a tool supplier or a tool hire company.
Have you tried the diamond discs? 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

The last one I had was a diamond disc, from a local tool store...but cheap.

How long should I expect quality blade to last with continuous use ( and Skip, my mortar isn't that hard otherwise I wouldn't be raking it out..Smile)

Cheers

trial and error in technique also...tip...washing up liquid on blade every so often can help, brush out 'slots' if clogged

I re-pointed our whole house...bought 20 of the diamond discs (£500) used all but 5, I got 1/2 a days use before changing SKIP

Get a Mortar Rake they come in various Ø you can get an adapter to go onto a grinder.

Get the one with 3 or 4 blades.

Also get a decent face mask glasses and gloves

If you stick to disc definitely recommend Bosch diamond, mine on a small cordless will go through concrete like butter.

Smaller or larger they are great, go for notched too like to link above not a solid disc as they are for finer cutting like tiles etc.
