If you search the internet you will always find a range of prices /currencies/carriage/VAT for any item.
It is always important to compare like with like, is it the exact same item with exact same specification? Is it legal in the UK? Will you be liable to custom duties/VAT if bringing in from abroad Is UK VAT included in the price, many UK webshops add UK VAT at 20% at checkout so on first sight appears cheaper to those that include VAT in the price. Over last year headline exchange rate Euro to GBP has varied from 1.14 to 1.24 euros and today the £ has hit a 9 month high against the Euro. Brendan |

There looks to be enough plastic between circular cut and rest of switches to cut off. Then file edges to same radius, bevel edges, repaint and should look good.
So when you do all of that and there's still £100 difference (+33%) in the price what would you do?? |

I see that In Car Music have a double DIN kit with brackets to hold the tuner unit securely. I have asked them if they would sell the brackets separately, but they won't even though they buy the kit in from a wholesale supplier. See:
http://www.incarmusic.co.uk/fitting-access...panel.html As I'd like to put brackets on my one, does anyone know who supplies these brackets? Merlin PS as far as I can see, only ICM use brackets, am I worrying unduly? |

I've been keen to get a double din fascia for a while now, but my defender doesn't have that...um...headlamp dial??
Could someone please tell me what that dial to the left of the 3 bottom buttons is? Also are there double din fascias without the holes for that dial? What is the best option for someone in this predicament? Thanks |

That is the headlight level adjuster switch. Easiest option would be to get a standard double din dash, as they'll all come with that hole, and then either put a blanking plate in or merely buy a switch and pop it in, even if it doesn't work.
Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Thanks, I have seen those. I am looking for the type that comes with its own vents instead of cutting the stock fascia vents off. |

I know what you mean, I was dissapointed to hear these weren't available also. The double din fascia cost a fortune especially when you still have to cut the original vents off!!
Twisted is the only one I know with the vents complete, but costs!!! http://twistedautomotive.com/store/double-din-panel/ James MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |

Click image to enlarge Hi guys, thanks for the advice a few months back, I eventually found a site that was selling double dins for a reasonable price, £184.95 Exc VAT, unfortunately they're the kind that don't have the vents at the top but I figured I can always buy a stock fascia in future if need be. I'll link the online store (SP 4x4) below. Really great service. As for the side panel and cutting into the dash, I didn't really need it, I had quite a few unused buttons on the stock fascia so the reduction in button holes on the double din fascia wasn't a problem. I did some digging and turns out the Disco 2 hazard button is the exact same type as the Defenders small buttons. So I'll be using one of them as my hazard switch instead of the stock large hazard button. The headlight adjustment switch holes weren't an issue either, the blanking plate on the stock fascia comes out really easily and just clips into the new fascia. (For any SA and Aus owners) I've also ordered an Android double din radio that's supposedly being delivered this Tuesday so I'll keep you guys posted, hopefully I wont run into any problems. It also comes with an OBD2 dongle, which should be quite nice. The fascia I bought is of really great quality if any one was wondering, tough good quality plastic, went for the matt black option, its probably better quality than the original! http://www.sp-4x4.com/Land_Rover_Defender_...202713.htm |
