2014 CSW Windscreen
I noticed today that I have bubbling under the paint at the lower corners of the windscreen. This is of course rust from underneath but the 110 is only 18 months old. Is this normal?

I am calling LR tomorrow to get this booked in for warranty repair but would like to know if this is normal of the bodywork on such a young car.

Thanks gents. My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.

Got my 2012 110 sorted under warranty. Bubbling on bottom of front window (both sides ☹️) and around alpines. They did a good job although had it in the workshop/paint shop for ages - also repainted front window hinges and fixed hole in rear tub (started as paint blister)
I'm going to get the windows sealed to stop it happening again. If you lift up the seal it will be full of water behind (or is on mine 🙄). Was going to do this myself and bought some Arborseal, but with all the guttering around it's virtually impossible to get the nozzle in all the way around. I found a local auto windscreen company who will pop the windows out and seal - much easier. 2012 110 XS SW Orkney Grey

The difference in paint from older defenders to new is frightening !

I'm collecting items for a rebuild using the newest parts I can and the lack of paint is crazy, just converting a 2010 seat box to 200tdi spec and shocked that the Battery box has hardly been painted, inside or out just a cover on the outside ! And these later cars cost a fortune !

Aluminium doesn't rust like steel. It oxidises (same process) but forms a hard coating of aluminium oxide on the surface which then protects the rest of the ally underneath.
If the paint's doing its job it shouldn't be a problem but if it's thin/porous/badly applied then water will get underneath which starts the corrosion and the oxide layer lifts the paint. Sad
It seems worse around joints/spot welds - I assume movement of the panels cracks the paint and let's in water Rolling Eyes . Spot welds on mine seem particularly vulnerable - maybe bits of copper from the welder tips get embedded - copper has a bigger galvanic difference than stainless to aluminium 2012 110 XS SW Orkney Grey

Ottons/salisbury Land Rover changed my windscreen on my 2010-110 in 2013, when the screen was removed (and broken), before a new screen and rubber was fitted I cleaned and dried the surround and applied anti-corrosion treatment

Just got my 2014 110csw back from warranty repair of bubbling paint round the windscreen

Turns out the entire windscreen surround got replaced - and it looks like the rubber seal has been mastic sealed to the surround

Pity they missed the bubbling paint on the roof gutter, it will have to go back again at some point Rolling Eyes
