Hi R1200GS,
Fitting on an XS is extremely difficult. I missed out on the forum offer of the Provents but managed to obtain one from somebody that decided it was too difficult to fit. There are more fitting options on this original thread. http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic26798.html?highlight=provent Should you wish me to dig out the photos and send you the details of where and how I fitted mine you are welcome but it still requires the manufacturing of brackets. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Just looking through for information on 'oil on the air filter' as found some on my new to me 90 Puma 2010 50k miles. Came to this thread, linked in from this one:
https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic37191-15.html Changed the air filter yesterday and it has oil on the top side of it (post filter) which will be coming from the breather off the rocker cover. The air filter i removed was well used with alot of debris on the lower foam side (which was grey with dust/dirt) Have read up a fair bit, including the views here and on the other thread. What i dont know is how long the filter was in there for so cant gauge if the oil on it was excessive. i do know that the other 2.4 i run doesnt have any oil on the filter. i am going to monitor it, as it may be excessive pressure in the rocker blowing it up rather than the vacuum from intake sucking it up (as its gone to the filter rather than engine side of inlet into airintake. vehicle doesnt smoke..... apart from little grey when cold on a cold day from initial pull away. doesn't do it when warm ambient or warm engine. in fact only does it 1st to 2nd or 2 to 3rd once. starts well, runs well not using coolant or oil from what i can tell. So if its not an engine issue and its just breathing a little heavy, which time will tell was looking at these with the aim of keeping the oil out of the intake: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Baffl...3077174516 alot smaller, come with filter and look a good compact design. thoughts please Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |
