yee haa!
so the biggest fix of late of the new clutch master cylinder we're running sweet guys and I'm a happy bunny......I'm sure I'll learn to forget over time but it would seem the recent replacements have sorted things;- all new suspension bushes and components front n back, new front axle (complete), new transmission and engine mounts, new clutch (full system from plate to pedal), new output flange from diff box, AND tightening the turbo heat shield bracket stopped the clattering. just need to replace rear calipers now |

forget the brakes still need to sort those but - and those that know me will know I've never had it so good for so long. Things are running a treat
I think the brakes need a week bleed but it can wait till I get the new calipers - but what calipers? have a good week all. |

Well got the brakes properly bleed and wow I don't ever recall the brakes working so well
Didn't whether to start a new thread or not under the 'for sale' / 'wanted' section? I'm after one of those big hat things, either borrow or keep? |

You could perhaps put in an offer for this hat, though I am not sure you could drive a Defender wearing it You could however probably garage one it For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

Well my clatter clatter seems to have evolved to the clank clank when I drive over bumps...obvious in first and second gear 3rd and above not noticeable (could just be because of speed you can't hear it?)
Checked t usual stuff ie brake pads. From underneath nothing obvious. Going to try swapping out the centre box on the exhaust but it might be the cat? Sounds like gearbox area? Sounds like the clank of a heat shield but they are all secure? Will let you know what I find. |

Well contrary to what I thought it would appear the clanking was the rear brake pads.
Also the rear box may have been knocking the chassis too. It certainly was while I was trying to undo the flange bolts on the exhaust. The exhaust hanger near the centre box was bent down...now bent back up |

Looking to fit new gearbox soon (which pretty much just leaves the rear axle and transfer box as original). Will check out clutch and replace restricter valve while in there.
Can't see I helping still getting occasional wobble which increases with torque and similar wobble occasionally while taking a right turn at medium speed? Last one is what feels like understeer (I know we ain't talking sports cars here but seems excessive?) |

Not just surge, there have been a whole shopping list of "issues" over the years. I'm pretty sure I know the root cause though Steve.
