Very nice although I think I prefer it as a utility but love the spare wheel on the bonnet
I can agree with you on that Cheers Ian -------------------- 22MY Defender 110 D200 SE, Fuji White. Kielder 4x4 Safari Instagram @defender_v8 |

I probably should've kept the utility panels scenes as I'm making an overlander Want to get some of those mantec window guards like on camel trophy Defenders though. The bonnet spare is classic, couldn't live without it being there
Thankyou! Don't suppose you want a full post on fitting this bad boy? Click image to enlarge Been debating a full write up on it and couldn't decide whether to post it here or in the new V8 section.. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon ~ Sold 1995 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Station Wagon ~ Sold 1985 Land Rover 110 ex mod project Tithonus ~ Sold |

Always love a good write up Imo i think you should do the write up on the V8 section as there are not to many V8 threads Clayton.

Good idea, will do a brief summary on here though as it's a rather important modification but the main one will be under the v8 section (when I can be bothered to write multiple pages of technical stuff ) 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Now the v8 conversion was out of the way a few minor problems needed addressing. The first was a sticking accelerator due to damage on the cable. Half an hour of fiddling sorted it out with a brand new genuine cable. I also needed to balance the carburettors which I sorted out the same afternoon. They aren't perfect but they are liveable for the time being. Sadly I do not have pictures to show you of either. If I did they wouldn't show much anyway
Shortly after I broke the choke while applying it thanks to the ridiculously stiff choke linkages. Scenes as the garage hadn't fit the original choke that goes on the steering column I thought I'd replace it with a proper one. Click image to enlarge As you can see she originally had a generic cheap choke fitted in the wrong place. Click image to enlarge After a lot of fiddling I got the steering column open Click image to enlarge Finally after an embarrassing amount of time the new choke is fitted I still fear ripping the steering column off when using it so when starting on a cold day I'll just apply the throttle for a few minutes before setting off After that I could finally turn my attention to cosmetic modifications once again. I thought I'd start it off simple and bought a pair of rear light guards, courtesy of Duggie1990. They were genuine and looked new, all for a third of the price! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge ..And a special picture with some Instagram filters Click image to enlarge This thread is officially up to date so there probably won't be any updates for a little while. I have my tax coming up next week which is going to steal my little savings I have built up after the engine conversion. You want to take a guess then Iggle Piggle?
I'd guess around 120bhp with the poorly tuned carburettors at the moment. I think maybe 140bhp could be possible after, I seen a guy on facebook who had his v8 doing on a rolling road and got 145bhp after As long as I can get the standard 134bhp I'll be happy 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon ~ Sold 1995 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Station Wagon ~ Sold 1985 Land Rover 110 ex mod project Tithonus ~ Sold |

So I went to the rolling road yesterday and the result was somewhat interesting. The carburettors where way out and the needles even needed to be adjusted. The timing was also way out, something ridiculous like 40 degrees. Fuel was also returning to the tank too quickly causing petrol to run out with hard acceleration. All that had been sorted thanks to Tom Airey and she runs like a new car!
As for the figures, 100 horsepower at road level was achieved, which is about 135 from the engine. Before the tune we got 77 horsepower at road level so about 110 from the engine. Big thank you to Airey tuning and would highly recommend, great guy, knows his stuff. Gives great car advice and relationship advice 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon ~ Sold 1995 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Station Wagon ~ Sold 1985 Land Rover 110 ex mod project Tithonus ~ Sold |
