Lowered Springs Issue - HELP!!
Hi all,

I fitted lowering springs from Urban Truck late last year. It only occurred to me the other day after washing the car that the rear springs are un-even..? Land Rover say the springs are the issue but Urban are not agreeing this theory.

What other springs would you recommend that will lower by 2' inches at both front and rear?

Pictures would be appreciated

Thank you

Tom

Not sure I understand what the problem is, have you measured the gap between the axle and the chassis on both sides ?
Have you tried it without the shock absorbers attached ?
It's normal for the driver's side springs to be taller/stiffer than the passenger side, there's no point in looking for a different supplier if it's not the springs that are the problem.

If you know the sprung weight at each corner you can probably lower it by using standard Land Rover springs, there is a huge range available and they're often cheaper than after market offerings. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Speak to these folks - they know lots about springs...

If nothing else, their website is reasonably amusing...

They certainly sound like they have a sense of humour at that place!!

New lowering service
So you lashed out hard earned cash on a fancy box of (imported) lowering springs from one of the usual suspects. You spent all Saturday fitting the brightly painted (imported) items, lowering your pride and joy onto its tyres only to find ....... It's not gone down!!!!
You curse and swear and bounce the corners of the car. 15mm, maybe 20mm. Nothing like the 35/40mm promised on the box. Ringing the man who took your money, only to get some drongo--"sorry mate, give it a few months till they settle".

Relax, don't reach for the Glock- Help is near. We at Powercoil know how important that wheelarch filled look is to you. For a small fee we will modify your springs down to the ride height you want. No cutting, burning or chopping. Just a correctly engineered approach to ride height reduction.
Maybe next time you will buy "Made in Sheffield" British!!!

Wow- been thinking about 5cm lower springs, 20% softer for ages... Rear only to take away that "jacked-up rear end" look. Just emailed coilsprings at 0822 today, Neil replied 0847. Keenly priced quote. Order placed Smile

Thanks for the tip. 4 weeks delivery time. Pics to follow Thumbs Up Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Hopefully they (coilsprings) will be able to add:

Hi Martin,

How did you get on with your new springs, did they work out as you hoped?
