Probably yes. You should not continue to have the EU format license plates. Same like we here, when we cross the border we are legally obliged to have this large CH sticker. If not, the French can demand a 90€ cash fine payable on the spot.
And as you know, France are keen to fine foreigners, they need the money for the budget.
