I am sorry if you find you cannot accept other opinions on this topic which are not rubbish but fact, look at the pictures published today of various merchandise with slogans appertaining to the fact that an MP who was so tragically killed supported the remain camp, several of this morning’s newspapers carried images of notes, cards and flower tags with differing words of ‘I’m in’. Perhaps you could email or write to those newspapers news desks with a complaint of their behaviour, who are blatantly not following a dignified period of mourning. Again I am sorry if anything I have written offends your sensitivity on this matter but everyone is entitled on a forum to voice their beliefs providing it is not racist, homophobic or goes beyond decency. I was not one bit impressed with David Cameron last night on the special EU question time, all he did was repeat himself, and use hair brained analogies, I thought the car with dodgy brakes comparison was peculiar. I also noted he did not answer one question given to him with a yes or a no but waffled on about things not happening in his political lifetime. He went off on a strange tale of how he sits less than two yards away from where Churchill sat and then explained Churchill didn't "quit on Europe". No you silly man he waged war on part of it.
If Cameron wishes the no voters to remain he really must do better and he only has three days to do so. I agree, he didn't come out of it terribly well. I thought there were two excellent flaws in his analogies -
You would not drive a car if a mechanic told you the brakes weren't working, BUT, think of the many, many cases where some less than honest mechanics have lied to the unsuspecting about the state of their brake pads in order to get more work. When Winston Churchill waged war, we did work splendidly with other countries with which we were not in a prior union, demonstrating exactly the opposite of his point! I was particularly glad to see David Dimbleby throw back that "there isn't a silver bullet" nonsense straight at him.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

err Churchill did not declare war Chamberlain did.
Churchill offered France full political union with the UK in May 1940 as a way to keep it fighting against Nazi Germany. He is a complicated figure for any side in the current campaign to claim. The accident of geography means we will always have Europe to deal with and my summary is I prefer to be in the tent  out. The EU is far from perfect but that is just as much our countries responsibility as anyone else. We should stay in to finish the job of reform.

Totally agree. The thing that really irritates me though is this "I'm voting in for my children's future" line that keeps popping up, often preceeded by an implication that one would like to, or otherwise would, vote out. Huh? Surely the best decision is the best decision? The leave argument is all the stronger in the long term than short anyway, and I think almost certainly people should be voting to leave for their children's future. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Long term is always the best option, I know why they are using that line.
They use children as a kind of emotional blackmail towards females. I think most people reading this will understand what I mean and why they are trying that (at this time) without me even mentioning it. |

Because the car industry contains huge vested interests, we import shed loads of cars from the rEU (namely Germany) and they're big fish that can take a bit of a hit. Everybody says we shouldn't? No, the big guys say we shouldn't, but it's the small guys we need to look after. SMEs account for around half of our economy, around 60% of private sector jobs IIRC, and are far more important for economic growth. If the car industry has to "take one for the team", so be it.

Most of the parts for cars come from Europe and germany especially - so to build a car you would need to import parts from Europe, build the car and sell it back to Europe - it would cost loads.
