Detachable tow bar Supplier.
My Land Rover 90 has a welded in square for a detachable tow bar.

I measured it at 58mm square?

Does anyone know of a supplier of a 58mm square tow bar and drop plate.

It looks really well done so image it to be a proper conversion along with other chassis modifications. Roll cage mounts ect. It has a hole to pin the bar in place etc.

If not I will have to make one...just hoped a commerical option was readily available.

Thumbs Up

Is that the external or internal measurement ? Sounds like a 2 inch receiver, for which there are loads of options for recovery and towing equipment. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Search receiver hitch on Google and it'll give you some ideas. There are a few people about doing the full kits and I'm pretty sure you can buy the hitch on its own

2" receivers are not approved as towing equipment. However if it can be used legally or not as tow bar depends if your Defender is pre 97 or is classed as a commercial.

The internal measurement of the tube should be in the region 50.8- 51.0 mm

Have a search on 4x4overlander.com for drop plates.

This is the dimensions of the receiver. I haven't been able to find anything off the shelf which fits yet? Do you have any other suggestions before I make something. I'm a bit reluctant to make something if something tested and rated is available. Thanks.

Cheers Martin,

I will contact Watling, as you pointed out they will make to spec so hopefully they will make one for me with a drop plate.
