Dear all,
Fitting the soft top to the land rover and everything has gone ok apart from the header rail. I cannot see to work out how it goes or if i am doing anything wrong.... Please see the attached pictures for refrence.. Does the header rail go over or under the side drain channels? Does the header rail go flush to the windscreen glass or over it Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

thank you for that... I am not sure if the header rail is in the correct position or if its the right one? But surely allwheel would have supplied the correct one?

I have drilled this bolt here which is as far back as I can get the header rail but then the clamps wont sit straight in the cab... do i need to try and shift the whole lot backwards?

thank you dorsetsmith. I get that rope edge of the canvas goes into the big u shape
its the drilling and physical placement of the header rail to attach it to the windscreen... I cannot seem place it far enough back to drill the thin part of the windscreen to allow the brackets and springs to be used? Do i need to shift the hole hoop set and drain channels back? TOm |

no they dont line up at all. Completely different locations on the windscreen to the header rail. So I have to drill 4 more.
Does the header rail have to mount further back so that i drill on the flat bit of the windscreen, highlighted here in red Click image to enlarge |

Its almost as though the part circled in red is too long which is stopping the header rail moving backwards to fit in the correct location
Click image to enlarge Where the header rail currently sits and where i could drill the holes it sits over this part highlighted in red. Which is too long for the bolts to go through for the clamp... Click image to enlarge Should the header rail be bolted through the green highlighted areas?? Thank you dorset for your patience!! |

or the header rail ends need to be cut to fit side drain channels both side. if you look at the pic from in side the cab the side drain channel are featherback, but looking at your pic of your drain channel fix in place you do not have that much to work with and they look right to drain rain down the screen
phone call all wheel trim ? |

So .. I unbolted the drain channels and put the header rail where it should be, drilled the holes and then with some jiggery pokery managed to slowly screw the drain channels into place and they bent a little bit into shape!
Thank you all for your advice on this subject! |
