Steering rack problem
My Mrs has just pulled back up at the house and said steering feels very light & making strange noise's.
I managed to get it onto the drive and get her to turn the steering wheel where I noticed the steering rod has just literally become detached.
It now has no movement when turning the steering wheel.
Is it just a case of undoing the locking type rings on the ends & winding it back on and then tightening things up ?
It's part 12 on the picture that has come loose.

I'd change the track rod and both joints. If it's come loose and pulled out you can garauntee the threads are knackered in it. Then you need to get your tracking done sorry

That is very good advice. Don't drive it get the parts and then get an alignment done. You can set it up well enough to drive by measuring the distance at the front of the wheel and then the rear of the wheel (in front of the axle then behind). Turn the tie rod until the measurements are equal. Then go get it done at an alignment shop.

In all honesty, if it was mine, for the sake of £30 I'd change every track rod. If it has run to the point were it's pulling itself apart I'd just change the lot.
