Squealing brakes
The 130 has been back to the dealers twice now for the brakes squealing and each time the squeal is even worse than before after a few miles driving. It has gotten to the point now where they are literally screaming when I touch the pedal and it is driving me mad! Even the attendant at the local shell garage comments " I know when you have pulled up!" Embarassed

Anyone else had a resolution to this?

I am getting to the point where I am going to fix this myself but I don't see why I should have to on a new car under warranty!

stones between bake discs and the stone shelled or pads fitted wrong way round i.e. with leading of the pad upside down and with out copper grease

also if your not happy with the service proved by your garage try new garage

My 110 was screaming like a Censored

Had a seized piston in one of the rear calipers. Freed off, clean and grease the pads, and all sorted Thumbs Up

They are usually pretty good at resolving things but I can't see how many times they can strip and rebuild the brakes and expect a different result to the last time?

Surely a piston shouldn't have seized on a 6 month old defender! Actually it is a land rover after all Big Cry

The squealing seems to be at its worst when I have been on the motorway for a while and then come off to stop on the slip road.

After the last visit everything was covered in copper grease! Apart from the pad surfaces!

I had this after my last service and it turned out to be the break pads at fault - they were too hard a compound so squealed for about 2000 miles till I had them changed for new Landrover original parts and hay presto - all better and normally returned - as did better breaking and less dust!!
The pads used first time where after market ones and the same ones as I’ve been having fit for years - so no idea if they have changed their compound ... but now all sorted
