Mines been pretty good too, trouble is a lot of us fettle and cause more problems than when we started sometimes!
I find the biggest bugbear is keeping rust at bay, other than that not too bad at all. |

Ok not a puma but have owned my 300 for 18 years and has covered 212000 miles and the only thing that has failed was the heater motor! Not to say there hasn't been other problems, but as Custom90steve said I'm fairly certain they wouldn't have arised if I hadn't messed with it!

The egr on mine became very noisy and sticky a few years ago.
I bought another valve and never got round to fitting it, however the problems went away maybe down to using millers diesel treatment and haven't returned. It's had the odd water leak and rattle they have also all resolved on their own over time. It's had no warranty work and never been serviced by a garage so over 5 years I'm not complaining. Correction....It's had no mechanical warranty work but has had a new radiator lower grill, front bumper, headlamp rings and mudflaps due to corrosion, Jono Last edited by Jonno on 23rd Apr 2016 6:50pm. I have had a 90 puma from new in May 2007. Only issue has been the power steering box that leaked and was replaced about 2 years ago. 9 years of ownership and 40k+ miles I still love it.

Mine does a bit too, a bit of a weep but never seems to get any worse. |

ok so not that you would expect huge issues at this stage - So little hippo is just over a year old now - 11k miles, no issues at all except the wipers are
By comparison my 2013 D4 had an EGR failure, leaks and coolant issues - used a bottle of coolant every 200 miles and land rover told me there was nothing wrong. All my speakers were blown and Land Rover insisted on replacing 2 of the 17 per visit - So far my Defender is incredibly reliable and better made! |

Mines 14k miles just over a year old. Brilliant car and i think well made. I waxoyled it and do all the normal checks.
I think a lot of the "reliability" issues that come up are down to 1) so many old ones about. Your bound to get issues on a 10yr+ old car. There are tons of ancient barely maintained defenders about. Old cars need replacement parts and good care. 2) because its a tough car designed to be rugged and durable.... people bash them about about and abuse them. This is plainly visible from looking at how smacked about some are. Even the very toughest cars will have issues when abused. In truth the car is brilliant and very tough. I normally get itchy feet after a year but i still love driving mine and ive taken it all across europe both onroad and off! |

Hi,
Just coming up on 18mths old, 25k miles on the clock and loved every one of them. Only problem so far has been the drivers door central locking actuator failing in the first 6 mths. Just about to go in to have the windscreen blocks and aircon grill replaced due to the usual rot that gets in there, gonna take the free Warranty set this time but will look for better alternatives when it comes around again in a few years.
