Change of Plan
Well I was looking at a professional refurb of my deep dish alloys to go with new tyres I needed, but those evil geniuses at the Urban Truck house of Defender Porn came along with an offer that made more sense.

Old set of Deep Dish on 265/75 16 BFG Muds with lots of tread on the for sale section shortly. Someone might want them as a spare set for playing in the mud, my old girl is too shiny and genteel for that sort of thing these days!

Very nice. I do like the new side walls on the ko2. They give a more aggressive look to all terrains. Good choice

Is it just me then? I am not stuck on originality for originality's sake but the new wheels look too spindly and the lower profile tyre looks out of place. The silver 16" alloy with taller tyre looks much more robust and fit-for-purpose on a land rover and would be my choice every time..... (I also think the contrast of the silver wheel looks great on your car and that is coming from a died-in-the-wool hand painted black steel wheel person!)

Well now you have raised the issue, I'd have to agree. Wouldn't look out of place in a Lowry painting.

I'm not a fan of 18"-ers or more on a defender (actually, on most cars for that matter)

It looks like it's on wooden wheels of an old chariot.

But tastes and flavors.... 28/02 - Loss of a good friend...

Taken from a recent LRI thread about 18" wheels. Whistle

Stay with 16" wheels and tires. Thicker rubber looks much better on a Defender than those low profile tires. My 5p.

Now, each to their own of course. Whistle
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I don't like 18's on a defender either, but each to their own. If we all liked the same it would be a boring world.

I don't mind 18" wheels on a Defender,...but not on their own.
I'd be looking at "on road", and if I did fit 'em, I'd also lower the vehicle by around 1 1/2", and fit a set of big (probably AP) brakes, because the standard calipers behind 18" wheels look puny...also the Bilstein suspension system!!
