If I don't use additive I don't bother and round the cost off, if I do I follow the amount in litres to measure and pay what it costs.
If that makes sense. |

Greeni, why? Well, simply because a tenner is already a lot of money for some people's budget. Have seen it too many times, even here. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Fill it till it clicks, don't brim it.
50 odd quid with one visit to the pump. 50 quid and 5 visits to the pump, how much diesel do you waste to and from the pump. Someone has got money to burn Cheers Simon I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you 1990 110 TD5 county, my first Land Rover - gone 2012 Discovery 4 XS SDV6 - gone 2014 Discovery 4 XS SDV6 - gone 2015 Evoque SD4 dynamic - Wife’s - gone 2015 Urban Truck 90 XS Santorini Black Hard Top - Reluctantly gone 2020 Discovery 5 Eiger Grey 3.0 SE - gone March 24 2021 Defender S D250 Santorini Black 110 HT - gone March 24 2023 Evoque P300e SE wife’s current vehicle |

If my calculations go wrong and I am unsure of what I have left in the tank on a motorway I may put £20 or so in and then fill up once I find a more sensibley priced garage. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

But I guess if you haven't got £50 in your pocket / the bank then regular fill ups are the only solution. The other possibility is folk really like the nasty scotch eggs available at some petrol stations!

Always fill from 1/4 tank or there abouts. And almost always brim the tank. Hate going to the pumps so every extra litre I can squeeze in helps 110 D250 SE HT

Please don't think I'm being an elitist or anything.
As Ryderoo says, it's probably more expensive with the frequent trips to the station. Especially in the SUV thing |

I'm with Mash on this one. If the gauge is low on the motorway it gets enough to get me home or somewhere with better priced fuel.
As it happens did it today. Would have made it I think but not playing chicken with the family in the old girl. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. Wide Track Sankey- In bits- Gone to a new home M0XQS |

I always brim it, sometimes get the airlock splash back but always brim it. Apparently if you fill up in the morning (cold) the fuel is denser? Not sure if that's not just me interpreting it like an idiot that I can be!
I tend to look out for BP or Shell as I do notice the extra mpg I get. |
