Putting a tenner in....
As I fill up with fuel, I don't stand and look at the pump, as I just fill it right up until the pump clicks when full. Price is whatever it is and I never 'round it up' (in case of spillage 'think bike')!

So as I'm standing there I notice a guy in an Aygo put just £10.00 in. I was amazed that people still do that...though I thought he may just be playing 'how far can I go'....he was in an Aygo after all.
Then as he drives off, a lady in a Kia Sorrento pulls up (neither the sporty or 4x4 thing Kia sell)... They're not exactly a small SUV, then lo and behold...she puts £10 in.
Shocked
What the hell??? Anybody you know who does this? Why? Neutral

If I don't use additive I don't bother and round the cost off, if I do I follow the amount in litres to measure and pay what it costs.
If that makes sense.

Fill it till it clicks, don't brim it.

50 odd quid with one visit to the pump.

50 quid and 5 visits to the pump, how much diesel do you waste to and from the pump.

If my calculations go wrong and I am unsure of what I have left in the tank on a motorway I may put £20 or so in and then fill up once I find a more sensibley priced garage. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

But I guess if you haven't got £50 in your pocket / the bank then regular fill ups are the only solution. The other possibility is folk really like the nasty scotch eggs available at some petrol stations!

Please don't think I'm being an elitist or anything.

As Ryderoo says, it's probably more expensive with the frequent trips to the station. Especially in the SUV thing

I'm with Mash on this one. If the gauge is low on the motorway it gets enough to get me home or somewhere with better priced fuel.
As it happens did it today. Would have made it I think but not playing chicken with the family in the old girl. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

I always brim it, sometimes get the airlock splash back but always brim it. Apparently if you fill up in the morning (cold) the fuel is denser? Not sure if that's not just me interpreting it like an idiot that I can be!
I tend to look out for BP or Shell as I do notice the extra mpg I get.
