Why ? My 110 does a 880 degree regen every 400 miles .

Why ? Avoid having my car towed and opt for DIY forced DPF regen instead.

Surely it depends on the type of driving whether the DPF will self regen or not? If you're doing long slow miles off road as we quite often do in Oz the thing won't do it and it'll go into limp mode or something. Mate of mine had it happen in his Nissan Navara dung heap and had to be towed with his van on the back for a huge distance to a stealers. Luckily his was under warranty.
Strange though how so many like him are vehemently against Landies "because they're crap" but we never actually get to hear from them the disasters from their choice of foreign vehicle, it's all from friends "accidently"spilling the beans.

Hi Alan, the exact problem was a sensor getting loose.
Unfortunately I have not been warned by the ECU before limp mode started abruptly. Luckily "the crap" was under warranty, too. Just happened very few days before the warranty period ended. Lucky me. DPF can regen 1) passively (e.g. on motorways) 2) actively (controlled by the ECU) 3) by force (controlled by stealer's software) If I'm doing long slow miles off road my yellow DPF lamp may start glowing. Then I'll have to set "the crap" on high rpm 
No other probs with DPF on the roads and off road so far. I'm just wondering if there's a tool out there that could help if these things are to happen again... touch wood.

I have got the same question. Experinece with not regenerated DPF and car in fail mode after few days long offroad trip was a bit expensive - 2 years ago in Discovery 4 during offroad trip through Albania.
I'll ask on the Nanocom forum. DPF is not fail safe designed for off road use. When using on road it works fine. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufÃnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo  |

Agree.
Had the same problem with my RRS slow off-roading in Piedmont a couple of years ago(was following 2 Def, so was really slow )
I got the message DPF full and had to drop the car and continue with the others to avoid going into fail mode. On the way back took quite a bit of motorway drive with high revs for the message to clear. |

Yesterday I have received info from BlackBoxSolutions - forced DPF regen with Nanocom is not possible, currently not planned and not planed for future.
I think, for longer offroad trips DPF force regen is very important feature. So now it is good time to send more requests for this function to BBS. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufÃnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo |

It'll work if you don't see the yellow DPF lamp.
If you're gonna see the red DPF lamp you'll have to look for a LR garage in order to get things done. I'm just wondering why BAS / Nanocom won't help in this special case. They have no option for a DPF regen although injector / CR pump relearning seem possible at least. |

Look for LR garage? Good idea in western or central Europe. But try it in Albania.
New info from BBS - DPF forced regen is in the to do list now.
So time has moved from - please write it on the list, to - please do it soon. And I think, more emails with request = shorter time. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufÃnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo |

Maybe they don't allow just anyone to do it is because i could be quite dangerous… usually a forced regen is done at a stand still… My DPF gets well above 600C when regenerating on the motorway, so thats with air flow, imagine how hot it could get doing it stood still, certainly not something id want to do or put my car through!
