The day started well with a brimmed tank of fuel and an hour and a bit run down to my grans for a nice roast lunch, left there and then down to Trowbridge to collect a genuine set of 110 Wolf axles for Maggie, then Jas obviously decided she was jealous and on came the alternator warning light flashing like mad, so with the sun setting and 70 odd miles to go I thought it, I do love the 300tdi with the only electric it needs is the fcos and with my led headlights she made it home
Now I have to spend more money to fix Jas oh and the insurance is due 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Changed steering Damper bushes back over to brand new Genuine parts.
Swapping the captive bush took longer that removal and re-fit combined. Not too bad though. |

After the being on the Malcolm Wilson rally on Saturday providing recovery (we did one job) the car got a bit dirty.
Removed the CB antenna (no longer needed as I now have a quad band transceiver) Unpacked the car removed bits and bobs needed for the rally. Brushed out the rear, amazing how much crap gathers over time. Proceeded to wash the car. Started with rinse to remove the lose stuff, then under the wheel arches with the jet wash to remove the dried on mud. Jet washed the body work to remove the stubborn dirt and then rinsed with a brush attached to the hose pipe Washed down with car shampoo and rinsed off again. Waxed and then polished the paint work and cleaned the wheels. Treated the wheel arches to some rubber protection. Looks much better now. Fitted my new private reg plates (treated myself at a recent DVLA auction). Took a little nerve to just pull hard to take the old plates off, but they came off cleanly.

Replaced the drivers side door catch - now its adjusted all I need to do is push the door and it shuts
Fitted a cubby box in place of the one I had made myself. Had to drill 4 holes in the centre cover under the box and weld on 4 nuts to take the bolts. A bit of a size difference between old and replacement Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
