Managed to change the wiper blade on my Puma without removing the wheel.

You should be able to change the blade without removing the wheel, but to do the arm it's a wheel off job

I've never been able to do it without removing the wheel, even if you switch the ignition off when the arm is in the vertical position.

I swapped mine to a Bosch Aerotwin flat blade, but had to remove the rear wheel to get at it properly. 2016 D4 HSE

With most of the spare wheel carriers this small problem just disappears.
