Kinda good news. My completely standard (new) 90XS SW is exactly 200cm tall with tyres inflated to 30psi (a little under spec). My garage doors currently give me 198cm of clearance but if I change the doors I can get 205cm which is the height of the structural opening.
So....do I change the doors at a cost of circa £2K or fit lower suspension / 18's at a cost of around £3K?? Edit...I don't expect an answer. This is me thinking out loud Last edited by m33ufo on 12th Mar 2016 4:35pm. Edited 2 times in total |

110XS CSW with Expedition rack sits at 2.18 at its highest at rear (I believe the CSW does sit higher to allow for carrying 7 bods).
The number of car parks Ive been 'excluded' from due to 'heightest' town planners is getting boring! |

m33ufo not sure how you get to 2k for doors? I had the same problem as you with a lack of clearance to get my 90 into my garage. An old up and over door was exactly the same height as my 90. So had it changed for a roller door and gained an extra 4" clearance. Plenty to get it in. However it was in the region of £650 fitted for a 7'x7' opening, worth checking around for garage doors, I found a massive variance in price. Unless of course you are looking for larger posh doors with electric opening in which case you may well be in the ball park price wise. I hope you get it sorted.

I'm replacing like for like with my current doors - just a little larger. I'm after two 7'6" x 7' Hormann insulated sectional doors in grey. I can use my current Hormann remote opening gear. The quote was circa £2K fitted.
I can get them a little cheaper, about £1400, if I go with Hormann sectional (non-insulated) in white. |

Ok thanks. They sound a better quality than I have. Probably worth it if you have the budget. Good luck getting the new toy into your garage.

That's for two doors though mate. I could definitely get them cheaper.
I'll chat with the door guy again next week |

Many years ago I drove an armoured 110 under a barrier in a car park near the army school of transport. I was mildly surprised when the whole barrier came down on the top of the 110 (it was a substantial steel affair)
As we dragged the barrier off the 110 I noticed the height restrictions and realised it was higher than the stated height of the 110 as given by the school of transport. Returning the vehicle to the MT they were a bit upset and wanted to charge me for the damage. I put their nose out of joint when I pointed out that the 110 max height was 20 cm less than the hight restriction. They had not allowed for the wire cutter fitted to protect the soldiers whe stood up through the "sun roof" in the rear! I got away with it. @m33ufo,
I have fixed your problem, it just came to me out of the blue when I was measuring up my 255/85R16s up against the current 235/85R16s I am replacing. What you need is to swap your wheels/tyres for a set of old steel 90 wheels shod with the 205R16 size. These are small and should give you the clearance required plus improve acceleration..... win, win! Disclaimer: tyre height - 27.75 so should reduce vehicle height by approx 2" I'm brilliant, no need to thank me |

I actually ordered my new doors today. Also managed to sell my current ones privately for £700 which has made the extra cost a little more reasonable.
Thanks for the suggestion though |
