Waterpump
Does anyone know who the Genuine 2.4 Waterpump is made by?

Genuine is £200+.

I have a suspicion it's Borg & Beck and they also fit the 2.4 transit and are identical for this particular part.

Could anyone kindly confirm, I'm still recovering from the £570 bill I was presented with yesterday, Shocked

Ouch.. Shocked

I would say it's a Ford manufactured part? I'm not 100% but will find out.

Pretty much every component on a Puma engine is branded with their mark, FOMCO.
They didn't seem to contract many items out for other manufacturers.

Seems an awful lot of money to replace the pump?. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Thank-you I'd appreciate that very much.

Yes, I think it very much is very over priced.

I'm very seriously considering replacing it myself now as it's not as difficult a job as I first thought.

I was expecting possibly up to £450 absolutely max, but £570!

The pressure test was £63 but that was worth it as I now know it definitely is the Waterpump.
I sorta thought that before but it's good to have it fully confirmed.

But yes, if you could find out for me I'd much appreciate it.

Vac pump (bolted to water pump) is Denso, water pump could be the same.

I think I have seen Denso pumps around online, what's the harm if it's the same thing re-boxed. Laughing

Water pump and bits arrived today, went for Genuine @ £310 BUT that includes new vac pump bolts and gaskets etc and bits and pieces.

Only thing it didn't include was the plastic section.

It looks like a Ford part, even Ford logo packet in there.

However, I went genuine as I didn't want to find it didn't fit or other issues.

Dealer wanted neigh £600 all in nearly £650 if you include the pressure test.

Book time for change is about an hour and a half ish.
So that must be around £150 an hour labour. Shocked Rolling Eyes

What was the problem with your pump Steve?

I've never had to change one through any fault, even on Transits that have covered intergalactic miles.
Would be interested to know.

I haven't actually had it fully confirmed yet.
Only answer I've had from dealer is that it's definitely the Waterpump.
They would have told me, but she said she'd have to go back to ask.

She said it was a crack though.

I'll soon find out though...

Got to get a few more bits first though, I've been printing off some WSM details today.

Could really do with some of the paper towel stuff, and I've got to get a container for draining too.

I think it'll be a gasket or O ring myself... Never know what dealers can get up to!

Update!
I got the pump out after a lot of work today.
I gave up on taking off the coolant pipes on the fuel cooler, how do they remove? I didn't want to damage them so just used the upper thermostat drain hose instead which has done the job perfectly.

Anyway, to cut a long story short my Waterpump I already have shows no cracks, no issues anywhere at all.
Except the gasket looks cream crackered!
There are pink coolant marks where would be below it which shows where it leaked from and it's the engine block to coolant pump gasket, the lowest edge.

I was told at the dealer the pump was cracked the metal body of it....

Got new fixings and bits inc a new gasket and if that works out then the new pump can be returned for refund.
Will see yet though but I'm highly confident on this one.

So to put it into context, dealer wanted me to pay for a new Waterpump even though it was only a gasket and asked £600 for it and labour and I don't even need a new Waterpump only about £20 - £30's worth of fixings and gaskets. Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes
