As they seem to totally disregard the Defender's heritage, they shouldn't even bother keeping the name. . _____

I hope they do drop it because finding stuff for our defenders is going to become a nightmare if you have to keep putting in pre2016 defender Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

But Shaggy, we've already got that problem! Everyone advertises as Defender irrespective of whether it is a Tdci, Td5, 300Tdi or 200Tdi, or for that matter a Turbo Diesel or NAS! And that is especially the case on here.......

The longer the pause is, the more I tend towards favouring a new name.
If JLR do go the route of re-establishing the vehicle as "the best 4x4xfar", and they will have to achieve that with lots and lots of technology, they had better leave the rugged military sounding Defender name be. However, lets take a shot at starting where it left off.... "Defender NT" (new technology)... ...Depender, Descender, Ascender, Series One, Series Five, Eventer (I know, I know...), Reviver ( ), Deterra, Ascerra, Monterra, Montender, Survivor, Surviver, Sirvender, Landerra, Intender, Carreterra.... There are agencies that get millions for thinking up a name that 1. hasn´t been copywrited by some clever chap somewhere, 2. doesn´t translate into something unfortunate in a foreign country (Pajero - in Spain, for example ..www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Pajero ) 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MT´s, Recaro CS´s, anorak, wellingtons |

Talking to salesmen today at local LR dealer and he told me he has seen the replacement defender in the flesh but they still haven't decided if it will be built - if it does it's going to look very much like this he said

Actually I quite like that, you can see the style ques and also see how it blends into the new brand.
I like, now will it be similar to what we ultimately get i wonder? Cheers Andy |

What about Midfielder?
Seeing as they are probably canvassing the WAGS of Cheshire for what they want in the new vehicle instead of the likes of us that use them as Utility vehicles! |

I can come with several good names from the past of the Royal Navy.
Warspite Thunderer Conqueror Iron Duke Terror etc. But assuming what kind of veichle the "replacement" will be it is more likely to be named.... Shopping Trolley Soccer mum express Fluffy pillows |
