5cm Diameter Hole in Chassis by Front Outrigger - Why?
I am preparing to Dinitrol my recently acquired 2012 90 in a few weeks and have been flushing the chassis out. There is a 5cm (approx.) hole in the outside of the chassis rail, under the front outrigger, approximately opposite the cross-member.

This hole seems ideally positioned to catch all the muck thrown up when the front wheel is on lock and I certainly found a lot of mud in the chassis in this area.

Does anyone know if there is a design reason for this hole?

Is it a good idea to seal it once the chassis is treated and if so, has anyone found a good way to do so?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the response. There is certainly no wiring loom using this hole on my chassis. There are similar holes in both chassis rails.

This morning while cleaning underneath I notice there are two near the rear cross-member as well (one in each chassis rail). These have also allowed a fair amount of mud to get inside the chassis.

If you wish to cover the holes you could clean around the holes with degreaser then apply duct tape over the holes and wax the whole chassis covering the tape too. I personally would leave the holes open, clean them out, wax inside the chassis and leave them so any water that gets in the chassis can run out again easily. Ray
