also have this really annoying issue! taking mine to dealers tommorow to shout at them!

Have a look at the rubbers on the bonnet hinges. They can wear allowing slight movement giving a noise like this. See if there is any movement in the bonnet.Mine needed rubber inserts. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

mines done 5000 miles from new so nothing should be worn in my opionion!!

I've got a rattle too, but I've only done 2000 miles.

Doesn't sound metallic in any way, & unless its stethoscoping, sounds like happening inside the vehicle.
