Personally, I think it is commendable how much differentiation LR/RR still has between models. The Evoque is very hard edged, and its extreme proportion totally suits its market. Still eyecatching after several years on the market. The Discovery Sport was a good way to fill the Freelander segmentīs shoes, while improving the image. It is softer and more RR like. It looks like more technology than the Evoque. The wedged lines of both, wonīt visible anywhere on the Defender replacement, as they contradict the modularity (2 door, 4 door, pickup, Stationwagon). Sure, there will be lots of design cues from the Discovery in the grilles and the lamps. I just hope they manage to recreate some of the "nuts and boltsy" "modify to suit individual purpose" character of the current Defender. @ Grenadier - the AWD TT is a good choice. Useful space (quite a bit bigger than the first two generations, and much bigger than the Cayman) in a sporty chassis. Good value for money. However, if your wife had a weakness for trackdays, you would have to take the Cayman GT4. Way more expensive than the 2.0 TT but better value. You wouldnīt lose a dime on it. Yes, quite right, but at 4 times the price of the TT, I think there are many things on Mrs Grenadier's shopping list that would come first. Additionally if she spent that on a car, (and nothing says she wouldn't) I cannot see her blasting around a track. She does her nut if someone dinks her car in a carpark let alone the risks of a crash!!.
As a day-to-day workhorse with a bit of fun and quality looks/interior I am sure the TT would more than match her spirited driving. The engine tune would be more for me than her!! Will be speaking to Accountants at the end of the month as to the best method of purchase/registration, but if we have the green light to buy abroad, I'll be popping over to Germany in Feb. Far more available in Germany and at least 5-7k cheaper in similar spec. That's a lot of beer or Defender upgrades, or both....So may have to take up your offer on advice buying in Germany!! Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Your welcome.
The comparison to the GT4 was somewhat tongue in cheek. Mrs G. doing donuts in Migros multi storey wouldnīt do, would it? 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons Last edited by Wild Card 90 on 13th Jan 2016 1:27pm. Gotcha.
Since you seem to 'know' cars, a little closer to the date I might ask if you have any top tips on Audi tuners.....What might be saved by taking it to the UK will be lost on travel, ferry etc. So, keep the tune local and then blast those Bavarian woods.... Expect further taking of Discovery Sport owners when Tata build their own SUV on the same platform and sell it for a third of the cost.

If folks have driven or experienced the 'old' Evoque, there's simply no comparison with the current model running the Ingenium engine mated to the Auto box.
I would echo the comment about Evoque being a 'me' vehicle whilst the Discovery Sport is more orientated to the Leisure market, in keeping with the brand values. It might be a lifestyle thing, but I don't like the DS and think that there are a number of decisions that were taken by accountants (no adjustment to the seatbelt height on the B pillar, for example) and it doesn't have the same feel as the Evoque. |

the new defender will be cool The DS in fairness (having one on the drive right now) is ok - but its a freelander its not a range rover and so there has to be differentiation Mike |

Discovery Sport handles bettter than the evqoue to. both on and off road. DSC systems seem far more in tune with the vehicle, it likes being pushed harder too without the LR2 limitations. Cheers

Grenadier, if you're talking Audi, and you want something "sporty" for Wifey, then you should look at the Audi S3 Sportback, 300+ HP straight off the showroom floor, AWD, DSG, BEAUTIFUL finish, and very fast. My Wifey absolutely loves hers. We also looked at the A45 AMG, but for everyday "Wifey Use", there was no comparison,..S3 all the way. Pickles. |

+1 to that We had a ' Get one reserved as soon as its released' chat with our local dealer and had offered to place a deposit on the Evoque Autobiography, they called us as soon as details were released and we popped in to do the deal, first question my wife asked was about the touted engine power increase and was told JLR hadn't gone for it, instant cancellation. Some form of RRS Evoque might get my wallet open again but honestly I doubt the sales volume for a Beasted Evoque would warrant production. And as for the Discovery Sport, took one for a test drive as soon as the dealer got a demo model, nice space inside and pretty reminiscent of our old Outlander but better (traded in for the evoque), but it felt sluggish and handled like a home build Raft race entry, so kept the Evoque I do like the look of the Disco sport to be fair, for a car in its intended market sector, just cant comprehend at what point 'Sport' came up in their naming meeting, unless they meant you can get sports kit in the generous boot or it can carry a whole 5 a side team. 3 Landrovers |
