M1 Protector or ACF50?
Are these products the same?

Is one better than the other? (ACF is more expensive but that doesn't always mean better...) Phil

ACF 50 is great and relied upon. It works, simple as that. Thumbs Up

Same could have been said for the Willys Jeep but didn't stop Maurice Wilks taking the principle and coming up with something better... Wink Phil

I was just this morning reading 'Funrover' "Defender 90 TD5 Rebuild / Tribute Build Thread" and coincidentally with a photo states he used "M1 Corrosion protector (like ACF50, but cheaper)".

I've only used ACF50 bought off Amazon for around £17 per can so not cheap.

I smothered my Dodge Ram when it was brand new a year ago, all over the suspension and underside. Dirt washes off. I have re applied it twice in that period but all the nuts and bolts inc callipers and fittings are all still like new.

Great stuff and the even do a new one "Corrosion Block" thicker and the fella recommended this for the Landy

Acf 50 is cheap I pay £9 from the place that does the annual inspection on the plane, although I think it might be £11 next time Mike

Can the ac50 be sprayed onto the paintwork and left on to protect paint over worst of the winter?

I spray ACF 50 all over the truck and it inevitably ends up on the paint. Ideally you do need to get it in those seams around the rear tub. I do spray specifically in on some areas of the painted bodywork and it seems to do the trick with very little corrosion is evident. Certainly makes it easier to clean.

It wipes off easy enough anyway, and I read that it's perfectly safe on the paint, but there are plenty of knowledgable and experienced forum members who will point you in the right direction.

Sadly, I enjoy the periodic rivet head ACF treatment.

Note to self - must get a life!
