What LED rear lights do I need to replicate this?
Hello

After spending ages on Google images looking at the back of Defenders.... Sad I know but I bet I'm not the only one Smile

I've decided I like this look for the back of my Defender,

3 lights in clear each side and the two red lights above. Like this (saying that I still don'y know RDX, wipac, NAS etc..)

This is the back of my defender, Has any one done this?

I guess I'm best just buying individual lights as most of the kits don't seen to offer this set up?

All LED, or a mixture?

What order do you want the lamps at the bottom?

The top ones will pretty much have to be LED to get them to fit the shape of the body, unless you are willing to enlarge the hole in the capping to accommodate a bulb holder.

The inner ones at the bottom will need new holes drilling, but I'm sure you know that.

I think you will end up buying lamps separately to achieve this, yes.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Here you go: couldn't find it for a min.

It's cheaper if you don't mind having your standard reverse and/or fog lights. Cheers, David

The other thing you have to consider if you want LED indicators is which way to prevent the fast-flash they result in.

I will go for just fitting load resistors but you can also get replacement relays which solve this, however very few work perfectly - often resulting in no trailer light when towing or other issues. Cheers, David

Indicators look like the KBX multi mount to me. They also look like LED's.

^ So am I best keeping to std indicators as I don't want warning lights when towing?

The RDX relay and LED's work perfectly in tandem. If trailer has standard incandescent light buts it'll work as factory for the trailer light.
If it has LED's on trailer you can either fit resistors on trailer only or an audible warning device.

If you don't tow at all or tow with incandescent light trailer then there is zero issue.
I'd certainly not fit resistors myself to a Landy due to the heat problem, last but not least they then draw the same power or more as regular bulbs defeating the power draw difference between the two.
The Wipac relay and RDX both work seamlessly and both are plug and play and easily adjustable. I've been running all RDX for two years now with zero issues.
