Tim - That's not the problem, its that the Landmark model has not been registered with the DVLA as a model by LR. Hope this helps.

No, I spoke with their customer relations a few months ago and they advised that it would 'eventually' be sorted. When you do get your license plate and try to insure with that it will come up with the insurance company as a commercial vehicle (ie a Van) so some wont quote car insurance on it because LR need to register it correctly with the DVLA.
What I did, was to talk to the insurance underwriters and explain exactly what the car is (a Defender XS with factory fitted upgrades and accessories, but know by LR as a Landmark model) and get them to insure as an XS with a note on their file that it is a Landmark model. All three insurance companies I spoke to were happy to insure on that basis. Good Luck. |

Did you specify different wheels and side runners, as the ones in your pictures are not the standard Landmark ones.

Side steps are the same, must just be the angle of the photo.
I got my own sawtooth wheels and they put them on for me when I went to collect it. |

A bit off topic....Looks just like mine Click image to enlarge I took the Land Rover 7 day wonder and then had a long chat with Adrian Flux who I have used for years - even after taking out an extra policy for "gap" cover they still came in nearly £300 cheaper and the cover was practically identical.. ( I hope I never have to use it or find out how good they are but even the Land Rover Insurance people were stumped when I questioned how they could guarantee supply of a like for like NEW Defender should it be stolen in the next 12 months - the bloke on the phone didn't even know they were stopping production in December......or January .............or February) MY15.5 110XS CSW 1956 88" S1 2004 Tomcat 106 Comp safari |

Chasing round is all well and good, but I'm thinking I need to speak to Landrover as well.
How does one "summon" Ryan? |

The "summon" was meant as tongue in cheek, it was a "how do I ask him if he could help"

Just as a follow up (in case any one else has the same problem).
In the end I went to A-Plan and they where fantastic. Not only insured it, but at over a hundred pound cheaper than my renewal quote for my old car. |
