Help please with EGR
Hi Folks,

i have exhaust gases in my coolant causing my overheating issue. This is confirmed.

I have no other head gasket symptoms.

As such i suspect, or would at least like to rule out, a leak in the EGR cooler. (where exhaust gases and coolant could therefore mix)

The car is remapped to disable the EGR and it has a blank fitted.

I have drawn the following diagram to explain my question... Would a blank at Y be possible to keep exhaust gases out of contact with the coolant?

yep was just thinking that too. I couldn't quite see the hoses for the coolant. Is it possible to join them together? Cheers, David

thanks, really appreciate your help.

I can't really tell if mine looks like this as its crammed behind the engine but if that is the standard 2.4 one than id imagine it would be?

certainly looks like how i imagine it would look judging from what i can see at the exhaust manifold end Cheers, David

yes.

mine is blanked at point 'Y'.

I'm thinking however it's unlikely to be within the cooler - but what do I know?

good luck.

Thanks Caterham, will blank mine at Y anyway. This is where other cars are blanked anyway.

yep I've just got to the point where I want to rule it out fully, and it shouldn't be too hard a job to do. Cheers, David

Not at any worrying rate. Only a little by overpressurising and losing it out the cap. Cheers, David

What would I need to connect the hoses together? Cheers, David

I used them on my webasto install.

Very good bit of kit for not much money, just remember to put the jubilee clips on before you connect as once it is past one barb you wont get the Censored apart again! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197
