Hi LR90XS2011
When do you light come on? I've do they come on with full beam, headlights or are they set up a DLR's? Ideally I'm after something that comes on with full beam only just to give a brighter light, or as spot/fogs on a separate switch on the dash Cheers Ahmed, that front end looks great, I wish I had more £££'s |

This provides a flexible lighting option, fogs, low/high with spots and a light bar for the really dark bits

I fitted these to my Disco. Ok there won't be as bright as the lenzer but for £40 each they add more than enough light.

I didn't get time to call Devon4x4 today but I'm wondering about altering a bumper, either my std one or a new one from devon4x4, cutting / drilling some holes to fit some lights into the bumper, these look about the right size, they could be mounted either on the front side or inside of the bumper for £25 and are small enough to fit...

These are wired as DRL's but would easily have spots if wanted.
Come from here https://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/index.php?m...cts_id=543 Cheers Steve |

To keep the front really simple, just use the side lights as side/DRLs by incorporating a 5/21w light (LEDs are perfect). This is just a rear stop/tail mounted on the front with a clear lens. That's my solution and it's legal, simple and cheap.

Sorry Merlin, but I am not sure that I fully understand what you mean.
For a start all vehicle obligatory lights have to be type approved or E marked. Now all legal lights have a code on them which designates what they are used for. A front side light or position light is marked A on the lens A rear position light is marked R and a brake light is S1 whereas the third/high level brake light is marked S3. I would question the legality of using a lamp designed as a rear stop/tail light on the front of a vehicle even if it had the correct coloured light fitted to it. Now taking a 5/21 watt filament light bulb out of a light unit and fitting a LED device in its place is illegal. The reason being that in the homologation of the light it should be specified what type of bulbs can be used. I have checked with two major European light manufacturers and they stated that replacing any filament bulb with a LED would invalidate their E marked approval If I have misunderstood what you have proposed then I apologise. Standard Chinese LED flood/driving lights mounted directly onto the top of the front bumper. I'd love Lazers, but can't justify the cost atm. They work well for what they are, fill the void between the front of the truck and the main beam, plus light up either side nicely. Wired in using the genuine LR auxiliary lamp harness kit, with toggle '2' switch on the dash.

[quote="Lambley"]Hi LR90XS2011
When do you light come on? I've do they come on with full beam, headlights or are they set up a DLR's? Ideally I'm after something that comes on with full beam only just to give a brighter light, or as spot/fogs on a separate switch on the dash Cheers Hi Lambley mine are switched via a genuine LR auxiliary lighting kit and switch and can come on with the high beam when the auxiliary light switch is on or not if it is off, I therefore cant switch them on independently to the high beam. I currently have 2 off 55 watt bulbs and 2 off 35w bulbs fitted, and the LR components seam happy with this. Some peps on here suggested that having the lights this low creates shadows, but for road use I have never noticed this I have set them so 2 light up the verges and 2 the distance. I also have uprated headlight bulbs and the uprated loom with relays so my headlights are very bright but these lights still make a very noticable difference especially around the fringes of the headlight. Aesthetically I think if I did it again I would fit them below the headlamps but the rear of the bumper picks up loads of water and mud from the front wheels, in this position they stay pretty dry except when fording. I have had to seal the rears of the ring lights with silicone to stop water getting in but this only happened when I have been through a ford. My finishing rings came from Nakatenanga but you dont need them if you are neat with your tank cutter, I could have just repainted the cut edge on mine as the bumper drilled out very neatly. One thing I have noticed is this mod is always commented on favourably by other LR owners when they look at my car. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |
