United Kingdom 2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Santorini Black
Hi Adam,

I have also just had my dealer on the phone! They are also replacing my entire clutch unit under warranty as a result of the chatter from the deep... I've heard it's either a broken or loose Spring on the clutch plate or some kind of release bearing, turns out the fault with mine was 2 loose springs rattling around. They also have to keep it in for a further three days after to replace pretty much every seal on the truck as when it rains or gets pressure washed the puddles on the inside or bigger than the puddles on the out side! Rolling with laughter

Thanks for getting back to me Thumbs Up

Absolutely, glad they just got on with it and admitted there being a fault and it was to be repaired under warranty rather than trying to wriggle out of it in anyway.

Fair play , mine had rattled from day one of my ownership too , I just assumed it was a " defender thing "

Having read into on this fine forum I decided to have it addressed for peace of mind.

JAS who did it , had done another prior to mine which was newer but higher mileage, one of the springs had cone adrift and gone into the pressure plate. "Procrastination is the thief of time"

Fingers crossed, either way it will come out with a new clutch.

They even sent me a video by email of my Vehicle Health Check - as there was nothing to report he went round showing the tyre depths, I could see it has been jet washed but not as thoroughly as I do it after each shoot, probably just enough not to trash their workshop! 2016 D4 HSE

Adam

Looks like our next purchase is going to be the same! heated corbeau's with white cross stitching and matching tall cubby box.. good minds think alike Thumbs Up i saw some in the flesh at the LRI warehouse that they had fitted in a very tidy 90 and they look and feel even better in the flesh! are you going for low or high base out of interest? I'm not overly sure on the difference between the two. on my current standard seats i have seat raisers from mud products so if the high base corbeau's are just slightly higher then i will most likely go for them.

I am going for low base.

Not sure if I have understood what you are saying - but the high and low base variants talk to the seat base sides, not the height of the actual seat.

I'm going for the low sided base because even I tend to slide out of the car, rather than lift a leg out and climb out. In time, the high sided base would either become a PITA or get squashed and ruined.

If you look at the LRI site you can see the difference between the two.

Ah ok it makes sense now it's the height of the wings on the side of the seat base not the height of the actual seat base! My excuse is being a youngster I'm still learning Laughing thanks for the help! Thumbs Up

Yes, neat looking seats! Thumbs Up

However, I am not going to lie as well... the significant side bolsters are designed for lateral support... e.g.: sports cars capable of 1g + cornering etc. I just don't see the need or application for this in a Defender... cornering g forces minimal and rough road lateral support being quite adequate with the OEM seats!

It's therefore all about the looks... and they do indeed look cool Cool YOLO... You Only Live Once...

YOLO,

I get that, but most LR seats just sit ontop of, they don't hold you in at all, and the Defender bounces around a lot!

Some side support can make a big difference. 2016 D4 HSE
