^^ Much higher. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I wouldn't discount seats that don't have a removeable base for exactly the reason you say - how often do you need to get into either space. I've only done it a few times and that's before and after a visit to the main dealers - just to check what's in there and is still in there when they've finished! |

If people are going for a non easily removeable seat base I would suggest fitting an Anderson socket somewhere handy such as seat box so you can give/receive a jump start easily.
Wild Card, we like the seating position of the Scheelmanns, not tried the Recaros. Suggest next time you are in Bavaria you go via Berg in Neumarkt and sit in some in the Nakatanenga 110 Brendan |

That's a good idea - but again , it's a good while since I needed to jump start a vehicle & similar to the recent threads about towing someone and being responsible for supposed consequent damage; there's the risk that someone might scream you fried my ECU or similar.
I don't know the legal/MOT implications of having a seat pivot on hinges at the back and just use some quick release locking pins at the front? Like the arrangements for the middle row but only in reverse. |

I am still very pleased with the Recaros as they are a massive improvement over the factory 2012 seats. I am sure the Scheelmann are good too. It really is worthwhile sitting in Defender with your intended configuration before you buy. The base height is nearly as important as the seat itself. I like the lower seating position that the SVX seat offers. The access to the backrest adjuster wheel is borderline - but otherwise they are great.
