TD5 De-Cat
TD5 De-Cat

Well that was fun !

Not really a job to try and do without a decent set of ramps or a fur post lift !

Did the cross member removal method but ended up going to my friendly local National Tyre Depot and the guys let me use the four post lift and gave me a lot of help Smile

All done , if a pain, and sounds good.

Once I fix the MAF it should stop smoking as much because at the moment it does the proper TD5 guff big time Smile Nice black cloud !

That the de-cat done, the big intercooler and just to decide if I go BAS or Alive !

Let the fun begin Smile

Did mine on the drive no ramps. Crossmember and front propshaft disconnected. Only bain was getting the small emersion heater sized catalytic convertor out. Had to jack the engine to get the extra 3-4mm required on my Puma. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Td5 one is easy. Tdci one is a pain in the bum, but still doable.

I did mine on the floor - only difficulty was a very tight crossmember. Beforehand I was a little bit concerned about the turbo studs being seized - but they came off ok Smile

Not naive......there's loads of information regarding benefits available at the push of a few buttons....

Just a couple of the many available....

Definitely makes a difference.

I only have a small LD back box and it sounds great, you hear the turbo whoosh as well !

Definitely runs better and pulls better.

It smoked a bit when I first did it, big black clouds, but that's stopped now Smile

Just the Tune to do now . . . BAS or Alive ????????

Interesting as I know people with TD5's with a de-cat who have no MOT problems, and since 2014 test change ?

Depends entirely on the tester and how stringent his visual check is. Some do get away with it! Thumbs Up

......Some don't! Big Cry

Apologies Tank, Bow down

You did ask! Thumbs Up

Just presented what was available and as a fellow 'decatter' was of interest especially as I had got rid of my original one and did a lot of investigation into the subject issue. At least you'll not be in for any 'surprises' MOT time?
