Did mine on the drive no ramps. Crossmember and front propshaft disconnected. Only bain was getting the small emersion heater sized catalytic convertor out. Had to jack the engine to get the extra 3-4mm required on my Puma. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Td5 one is easy. Tdci one is a pain in the bum, but still doable.

I did mine on the floor - only difficulty was a very tight crossmember. Beforehand I was a little bit concerned about the turbo studs being seized - but they came off ok

Not naive......there's loads of information regarding benefits available at the push of a few buttons.... Just a couple of the many available.... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic15424.html?highlight=spool http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic7482.html?highlight=spool If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Definitely makes a difference.
I only have a small LD back box and it sounds great, you hear the turbo whoosh as well ! Definitely runs better and pulls better. It smoked a bit when I first did it, big black clouds, but that's stopped now Just the Tune to do now . . . BAS or Alive ???????? |

Interesting as I know people with TD5's with a de-cat who have no MOT problems, and since 2014 test change ?

Depends entirely on the tester and how stringent his visual check is. Some do get away with it!
......Some don't! http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic28888....fail+decat You'll find out soon enough! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Apologies Tank,
You did ask! Just presented what was available and as a fellow 'decatter' was of interest especially as I had got rid of my original one and did a lot of investigation into the subject issue. At least you'll not be in for any 'surprises' MOT time? http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic26633....+convertor If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
