TD5 straining
Hi all... This is my first post on here since selling my 300tdi defender 90.. I now have a 2001 td5 defender 90... When i'm driving it, it really feels and sounds like it is straining and the performance wasn't what i was expecting... It may just be me as i have just come out of an M3...

First thing to do on any Td5 that has a new owner is to check the ECU harness fro oil migration.

Check the MAF as well... these would be good places to start

Even with the new loom, there could be oil in the harness still working it's way down to the ECU. Unplug the harness at the ECU, and give it a check to see if it's dry.

Under the drivers seat.

If you search through various forum posts on here on the topic, you will find lots of photos and information on how to go about it.

Thanks. After reading up on it a bit more i'm also wondering if the cat could be blocked.... That's sort of how it feels when driving.

Tchecked the loom and it looks fine. I have booked in to have a full stainless system and a cat removal, so i'll see if that makes a difference.
