^^Yes, and so what? It remains commercialized as respectively an Alive Tuning intercooler, and as an Entreq intercooler. If the manufacturer of these intercoolers does not come in the limelight here, that is actually no different than many Land Rover parts which also are engineered/specced/bought in/commercialized under the Land Rover name while you often don't even know who the real manufacturer is.
Now, the intercooler pipes are much the same. The Entreq ones are engineered, specced up to a high standard, but not manufactured by Olaf himself, who obviously merely is making sure that he finds the right German steel bending workshop which will use the right grade of SS pipes, and scrupulously follow Entreq's production instructions. The end result is a set of Entreq intercooler pipes then. Presume the same procedure goes for Gary from Alive.
I have no problem with an Entreq intercooler which actually is produced following Entreq instructions by a Austrian company.

Commercially these were produced, available and badged as Chiptech before Entreq's and/or Alive's involvement over two and a half years ago for the 2.4, that is when I got mine and there were only two suppliers Alive and B.A.S (the latter had a single one up for grabs at that time). You can of course pay extra to have whatever name you wish applied during the manufacturing process.I will of course stand to be corrected IF Entreq and/or Alive had any involvement in the development process at all?

If the alive intercoolers are the same as the BAS ones, then the entreq ones are different.

I had a chat with Olaf and Pete Bell about this. The entreq intercooler bodies are cast.

As stated not sure about the latter Alive/BAS comparison but the one Pete was selling was advertising Chiptech. At the time of my procurement there was only one other forum member I was informed of who had fitted one together with prototype stainless pipes to test and that was Lorryman100. There were no instructions and he talked me through the best due process to fit.

The Nakatanenga ones are also cast. I strongly suspect the Alive, Entreq and indeed Nakatanenga ones together with the one(s) Pete was selling are made by the same Austrian manufacturer/supplier to the same exacting process and high standards? If not what makes the Entreq ones differ I wonder apart from the name of course??? It's not the cast ends.

..hi guys..i have just short question, i forgot to ask..tomorrow morning is my appointment, so i have to bring car there...my question is, is it safe to drive car in given condition, as i explain in my previous post, for some 15-20km, where Land Rover Service center is ??

NO I personally would not drive it anywhere. It is under warranty and you are going to drive it with a knackered intercooler hose yourself to the service centre some 10 miles or so away?

Basically you have an issue that is warranted. The dealer knows you have this issue. You are still going to drive it? What happens if you drive it with a known fault and do serious further damage to your vehicle?

This is a matter of principle. Get them to collect it and stop being taken for a fool! Whistle If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

..its Malaysia, and such things are a bit harder to organize as they are kind a slow..so, my concern is only, what damage car is exposed if driven some 15 km to service center ?? I just want to understand what damage could be done eventually.

If it is as humid and rainy as it was when I was at Kuantan I for one would not drive it unnecessarily.

It is an engine/turbo cooling system do you really need to ask? Damage could be severe with several expensive possibilities or you could drive it with no issues at all. Do you yourself want to shoulder the risk?

Get them to come to you with the hoses and swap them out an hours work at best! Or collect them yourself and fit them. The risk will be zero.

..im not trying to oppose you on any way K9F..so, please forgive me for my questions as they are indeed noob..from what i understand, intercooler is not used to cool down turbo, but air which comes from turbo, before enters engine for combustion..and hose between turbo and intercooler is leaking...at same time, engine is in limp mode so there is no way to rev it over 1.8-2k (even that is difficult to reach), so turbo (i guess) doesnt have enough gasses to power it in order to overrev..so, which part is then heating up turbo, or anything for that matter?? My assumption is based on this picture provided. I just want to properly understand risks involved, thats all, and based on this diagram, i dont understand what intercooler has to do with turbo, in sense of heating or cooling it down..please, educate me..

You are correct. Colder air in, better combustion. It is still a heat transferal system that will affect engine operating temperatures and rate of heat dissipation in arduous conditions. But 'what if' moisture could also find it's way into the combustion process?

The point I am trying to make is why take the risk at all when you do not necessarily have to? Also 'should' something untoward happen who is going to accept the responsibility and cost for repairs when you have knowingly still driven it with the fault? Your Service centre perhaps?

Could be it'll be fine. I suspect you may be looking for reassurance and will do it anyway for convenience perhaps?

Me personally, I would rather go and collect them (not in the Defender) or get them delivered and fit them myself before mitigating any risks by driving it there myself. Up to you what you do ultimately.

...went this morning and sorted it out..as everybody already confirmed, it was hose which apparently shouldn't be installed at all as installed type is recalled by land Rover since 2012..go figure how 2014 truck got that installed..new set installed is still some sort of plasticy/rubber thing and with 2 layers of rubber coating and in between is some sort of wire spiral, plus some clips to keep whole thing away from moving engine parts..i suggested to bring very well done intercooler kit made of silicon/steel , so they can install it, but they refused unless i want to lose warranty..so, basically, you lose warranty if you let them install top class part for vehicle, you pay yourself, and yet you have warranty by letting them install inferior system than one you offered...go figure...they also insisting on changing oil every 10K, which i disagree, and actually changing oil myself every 5k-6k..i dont know why i have feeling that whole thing they running during warranty period, seems to me like a setup to screw up car on such way that works fine exactly long as warranty is and after that start with all sort of issues..i dont know..i like truck a lot so ill do what i can to keep it up and running on proper way...thanks for kind assistance guys..you all are gold mine.. Wink
