This is a perfect way to clean the inside of an inaccessable grinder of bean to cup machines: when the beans reservoir is empty, put a cup of rice grains in, and start to make a cup of coffee. Stop the machine (switch it off) just before it would add the water. Repeat until all rice is used. Fill again with beans and dispose the first two cups of coffee. This cleans the grinder of the fatty deposit of the grinded beans on the grinding gear. Krupps Nespresso all the way, about £150, very consistent and great choice of pods (online). No mouldy grout bin !
We have a separate Aerochino for those that like frothy stuff before 11am. 2015 90 XS SW Bowler 1998 TD5 CSW |

I must be a coffee goblin then as I have an original tassimo machine I got as a wedding gift. I only use it with carte noire but it makes a perfectly good brew when I need one despite being relatively ancient. That being said though, living in Harrogate does mean I have unfettered access to Betty's tea rooms and therefore as much nice Taylor's coffee as anyone could want. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

We've got a dualit 3 in 1. One of these:
Bought from costco couple of years ago for 130 quid-ish. Flexible as can take grounds or pods/capsules. Get's a lot of use in our house and never had a problem with it. Can froth milk and all that if you like that kind of thing. |

I have the same Bialetti with me in the Defender at all times! Usually make myself a cup during traffic jams. 😄 |

I tried them all and thought Tassimo to be the most authentic tasting especially with the Costa Americano pods, nicer in fact than real Costas whose standards I have found to be inconsistant between branches. Plus the Tassimo machine is only fifty quid. Bargain.
