So Ian, I finally dragged myself up and out to the Special with the Defendoor in hand... ![]() First of all, some indoor detail pics to show the general idea not normally seen when fitted or photographed... ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge You can clearly see the thickness of the item and the little indentations top and bottom that do the clipping (and unclipping) actions... ![]() To fit is really simple, just offering it up, top first in my case, and then clipping in the bottom of the door, simples... ![]() I was quite surprised at how much it sits proud of the vehicle surface, perhaps that helps contribute to their occasional loss... ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge To remove is simply the reverse, by gently lifting from the slight cut away in the bottom the Defendoor just unclips and comes away... ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge The door seems to clip in with a firm click and should be good to hold it in place, although I have heard of some users, whether true or not, having lost them in transit... ![]() Although this could be either poor fitting, or the item becoming less rigid after constant use... ![]() Either way, after painting mine, I am going to fit a tether strap to ensure it does not get lost, one way or the other... ![]() ![]() The GREEN One... That’s the most comprehensive review of a fuel cover I have ever seen ![]() Good idea about the tether, as I have lost a few by leaving them on the top of the fuel dispensing pumps on filling station forecourts then forgetting to put the cover back on and driving off ![]() http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

I used some fishing wire tied around the filler neck and through a small hole made in the lip from the top curve on the defendoor. It's stayed on for a year or two now and you don't have to keep hold of it while filling up. Ray

I lost one, but to be fair I got a replacement free. Now it has a strap on it. Oddly it still gets some mud in it from greenlaning.
Merlin PS the strap is chain, that once held a light up, and I covered it with heat shrink without the heat. A simple pop rivet holds it to the car and another through the top of the plastic, the other end. It is long enough to allow it to be 'parked' on the roll cage when fuelling. |

I think solo I could manage 5th, will let you know. I can start easily in 2nd with no clutch where as I've heard other people say they need slip in 1st. With something the size of that van though I've no chance. I really need to get this rolling roaded or similar to get this one sorted. I think a boost guage to see if it's too high as the waste gate was wound right in. 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |

On mine Ian and Rog ive riveted a stainless hook on the inside of the door (very defender in-keeping!) and have a cord that goes through the gap in the top of the fuel filler panel work. Reason being im on my fourth, but should be my last now its tied on
![]() Love the detailed post Rog ![]() |

I must be the only person who think they're ugly.

TBH I don't get them???
I think they are a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. |

Unlike the defender? Does it ruin the fine design details like the exposed hinges for you ![]() |
